Doing repetitive work such as using a computer, hairdressing or making coffee can lead to discomfort or persistent pain in your back, neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands or fingers. Symptoms often include pain, swelling, numbness, tingling, restricted movement and weakness in or around the muscles and tendons.
There are many factors involved in the treatment of these symptoms, e.g. postural awareness, changing work stations, taking regular breaks during the work day, strengthening exercises, therapeutic massage, etc.
Massage treatment involves:
relieving any muscle tension causing nerve compression
treating trigger points (areas in the tissues that refer pain or sensation either around themselves or to other sites).
restoring blood and lymphatic flow to affected areas.
